About Bottom Line Research |
Bottom Line Research & Communications, through
its principal, Barb Cotton, has been helping
lawyers, corporations and government and other
agencies with their
legal research and writing needs since 1993.
Bottom Line Research can do as much or as little
as you may require: a legal research memorandum,
a brief, a factum, a quantum assessment, a
quick search and a reporting letter with cases
or
a ghostwritten paper.
Whatever you need.
If you ask a question – you’ll get an answer. It
is our policy to answer your question with a conclusion, and not obliquely in a
hodge-podge of cases.
We go farther. Most projects are also submitted
to you with a companion Research Binder
containing
authorities that were used to formulate the end
product for you.
Bottom Line Research is retained on a per
contract basis. The scope of each project is
initially discussed with Barb Cotton. Timetable
and budgetary concerns are addressed and cost
estimates are clear and can be agreed upon from
the word go. There are no surprises.
And you’ll get the best. Although Barb continues
to be the primary research lawyer, she
engages a team of legal research consultants who
have experience as clerks with the Alberta Court of
Appeal, law professors,
research lawyers and line lawyers in
full-service law firms. Several members of the
team are gold medalists.
The research lawyers have a layered range of
experience, with the most senior having 20 or more years at the bar. They
are closely supervised and all end product is
reviewed by Barb before
it’s submitted to you.
All Bottom Line
research lawyers have access to
the latest in technology, including the three
major computerized research databases:
Quicklaw, WestlaweCarswell and
LexisNexis. This
means that computerized research can be
conducted in Canadian, English, Commonwealth and
American databases, as well as on the internet.
And it isn’t just a matter of keying in a
search. The lawyers at Bottom Line Research also
do research the old fashioned way - they roll up
their sleeves and get into the library. That’s the
bottom line. |
